By: sally ebeling http://wherethecoconutsgrow.com/2014/12/tiny-house-blog-boat-life-isnt-easy/#comment-84058 Sun, 14 Dec 2014 23:03:52 +0000 http://www.wherethecoconutsgrow.com/?p=3370#comment-84058 I somehow got disconnected….you need to always keep an eye and feeler out for the weather and be prepared to respond quickly to any changes…I sailed on the Great Lakes, primarily Lake Ontario, and have been out in 12-15 foot waves there….which is very uncomfortable going….you don’t have the rolling waves of the ocean….there is not as much distance between the crests of the waves so you have to be careful or you will breach and/or take on a lot of water. But that is all part of it….I happened to love it….there is nothing like dancing on the deck of your boat on a moonlit night…there’s nothing like the sense of adventure as you travel from port to port (they are all different) …and you meet the most interesting people….it is not a life for everyone, but for those who love it, there is no better life.

Boats had to be pulled out of the water for the winter there. Life is very different on a boat….all sailors are fit! There is always a lot of work to be done and it is true that you are constantly bracing and balancing yourself against the rocking and rolling motion of the boat…you do this without thinking about it…anchoring and shopping for essentials can be a real drag….no pun intended….as well as getting items out of bins….you n
